Julie (a.k.a. Sakile) holds a Master of Science degree (High Honors) in Holistic Nutrition from Hawthorn University and is an ACE-certified Personal Trainer.
Outside of the field of Health & Fitness, Julie holds a BSc (Hons.) in Engineering Science (with a minor in Biomedical Engineering) from Pennsylvania State University; obtained her professional accountancy qualification through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 1998; and was awarded fellowship status in the ACCA five years later. In 2002, Julie permanently left the corporate world to pursue a career in Health & Fitness. Her clients realize that she brings much enthusiasm to her work as a Nutrition Consultant and Personal Trainer and that this is an extension of who she is and what she strives to achieve for herself as well as those with whom she works.
Julie hopes to enjoy a lifetime of fitness. Her movement experience includes earning a Diploma in African and Caribbean Dance awarded by Birkbeck, University of London (England). She is also a Certified Reebok City Jam Instructor, an official Level II Zumba Fitness Instructor, and has attained Ni Dan (2nd degree black belt) rank in the Isshinryu World Karate Association.
Julie’s continuing education includes courses in tai chi for arthritis; improving balance and mobility in older adults; exercise for knee and hip replacement; pre- and post-natal fitness; herbal cooking; and health promotion at the population level. Now, with two young children of her own, Julie recently underwent advanced training towards earning the JrFit Youth Fitness Specialty Certificate in order to enhance her physical fitness and nutrition programming for young people.
