Julie (a.k.a. Sakile) holds a Master of Science degree (High Honors) in Holistic Nutrition from Hawthorn University and is an ACE-certified Personal Trainer.
Outside of the field of Health & Fitness, Julie holds a BSc (Hons.) in Engineering Science (with a minor in Biomedical Engineering) from Pennsylvania State University; obtained her professional accountancy qualification through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 1998; and was awarded fellowship status in the ACCA five years later. In 2002, Julie permanently left the corporate world to pursue a career in Health & Fitness.
Julie hopes to enjoy a lifetime of fitness. Her movement experience includes earning a Diploma in African and Caribbean Dance awarded by Birkbeck, University of London (England). She is also a Certified BANG and Barre Instructor, a Zumba Fitness Instructor, and has attained Ni Dan (2nd degree black belt) rank in the Isshinryu World Karate Association.
Julie’s has recently earned her Board Certification as a Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention Instructor. Other continuing education pursuits include courses in improving balance and mobility in older adults; herbal cooking; and health promotion at the population level. She holds a JrFit Youth Fitness Specialty Certificate, thereby enhancing her physical fitness and nutrition programming for young people. In addition, a Holistic Fitness Specialty certification, enables her to adapt and apply the principles of Holistic health to her nutrition and fitness protocols. In this way, Julie is able to better support clients who are undergoing the therapeutic process of recovery from eating disorders, traumatic stress, depression and acute grief.
